2019-3-26

Mar 26 (LTIT) - E-waste management specialist Enviroserve has opened the world’s largest e-waste recycling facility in Dubai, UAE. The Recycling Hub, located at the Dubai Industrial Park, was constructed at a total cost of around Dh120 million, with the support of Swiss Government Export Finance Agency.

The project represents one of the largest FDI investments in the field of environmental management in UAE’s history. The 28,000 square-foot plant has a processing capacity of 100,000 tonnes of integrated waste per annum. The plant processes entire range of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), industrial, commercial and military waste. The materials processed by the facility include air conditioners, batteries, computers, household appliances, aerosol cans, light bulbs and FMCG products.

Stuart Fleming, Group CEO of Enviroserve stated that the company is extremely happy to launch its iconic e-waste recycling facility. He thanked Dubai Industrial Park for their full support in setting up the project. The launch of the facility marks a true game-changer in e-waste and specialized waste recycling not only for the UAE, but for the entire Middle East, Africa and Caucasus region, Fleming added.

Meantime, Saud Abu Al Shawareb, managing director of the Dubai Industrial Park noted that the Recycling Hub will serve as a successful model of the new green economy. The facility is expected to deliver far-reaching positive impact in several regions of the world, he said.
